Barbarian Lost by Alexandre Trudeau To this day, China remains an enigma. Ancient, complex and fast moving, it defies easy understanding. The Ottawa Writers Festival welcomes Alexandre Trudeau on September 13th when this new book will release. Visit Perfect Books to pre-order your copy and purchase a ticket for the event.   Ever since he was a boy, Alexandre Trudeau has been fascinated by this great county. Recounting his experiences in the China of recent years, Trudeau visits artists and migrant workers, townspeople and rural farmers.
The Girls by Emma Cline Northern California, during the violent end of the 1960s. At the start of summer, a lonely and thoughtful teenager, Evie Boyd, sees a group of girls in the park, and is immediately caught by their freedom, their careless dress, their dangerous aura of abandon.
Van Gogh's Ear by Bernadette Murphy On a dark night in Provence in December 1888 Vincent van Gogh cut off his ear. It is an act that has come to define him.
A Hero of France by Alan Furst 1941. The City of Light is dark and silent at night. But in Paris and in the farmhouses, barns, and churches of the French countryside, small groups of ordinary men and women are determined to take down the occupying forces of Adolf Hitler.
Real Food Fake Food by Larry Olmstead You’ve seen the headlines: Parmesan cheese made from wood pulp. Lobster rolls containing no lobster at all. Extra-virgin olive oil that isn’t.

Employment

pb_signage

We run a lean ship here at Perfect Books. We have had NO turnover for quite some time. But every now and then an opening occurs. We look for staff members that read as if their life depended on it, are friendly and outgoing and enjoy working independently as well as working with others. Retail experience is a must and, of course, bookstore experience is extremely welcome! If you are a mature individual and think you'd like to spend a few hours a week working in a vibrant environment, surrounded by great books and fascinating people, drop by and bring along a resume. The pay is terrible but the benefits (books, books, books) are great.
