May Events

On Wednesday, May 1st Perfect Books will be at the Charlotte Lounge at 340B Elgin to provide copies of the new book by Tonya Davidson entitled Tours Inside the Snow Globe, a fascinating book about the many monuments in Ottawa, their history and their contemporary impact. This event runs from 5 to 7 p.m.

Also on Wednesday, May 1st, we welcome back Brenda Chapman to the store with her newest mystery entitled Fatal Harvest, her second Hunter and Tate mystery. Brenda will be at Perfect Books from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Beautiful Outlaw Press brings 4 poets to the store on Saturday, May 4th from 7 to 8:30 p.m. We will welcome Phil Hall (Vallejo’s Marrow) Jaclyn Piudik (Dark Oar), Chris Turnbull (Cipher) and Mark Goldstein (Thricelandium)

Paul Wells will launch his new book entitled Justin Trudeau on the Ropes at Perfect Books on Monday, May 6th from 7 to 8:30. This event is by invitation only.

On Tuesday, May 7th, Kayla Czaga brings a new volume of poetry entitled Midway and will be joined by Cassidy McFadzean with Crying Dress, also a new volume. Special guests include Bardia Sinaee and Ben Ladouceur

Misty Pratt will be at Perfect Books on Wednesday, May 8th to introduce the new book entitled All In Her Head,an examination of how gender bias harms women’s mental health. This event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

On Thursday, May 9th, Roseann O’Reilly Runte will be at Library and Archives Canada to launch her new book entitled Canadians Who Innovate: The Trailblazers and Ideas that are Changing the World. This is a free event sponsored by The Ottawa Writers Festival and will get underway at 7 p.m.

The Crime Writers of Ottawa will grace our store on Saturday afternoon, May 11th from 1 to 4 p.m. Four authors will be on hand including Max Folsom, Norm Boucher, Randolph Harold and Mary Jane Maffini. This is a great opportunity to meet and chat with fine local mystery writers.

On Monday, May 13th, Marie-Helene Pelletier will be at Perfect Books to present her new book entitled Resilience Plan: A Strategic Approach to Optimizing Your Work Performance and Mental Health. This event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Susan Doherty will visit Perfect Books on Tuesday, May 14th to introduce her new novel, Rent Boy, a coming-of-age novel set in Somerset, England in the 1980’s. This event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 14th we welcome back Mike Martin who will launch Better Safe Than Sorry, his latest Sgt. Windflower mystery. It’s always a joy to visit Newfoundland, even if it’s just in the pages of a great mystery. Festivities begin at 7 p.m.

Patrick Grace will be at Perfect Books on Sunday, May 19th to introduce his new volume of poetry entitled Deviant. Special guests will include Ellen Chang-Richardson and Ben Ladouceur. The event will be hosted by Conyer Clayton and will happen from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Jamie Liew will introduce her new book entitled Ghost Citizens: Decolonial Apparitions of Stateless and Wayward Figures in Law. Jamie will be joined by CTV’s Judy Trinh in a discussion of this new work. The event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Jesse Keith Butler will introduce his new volume of poetry entitled Living Law at Perfect Books on Wednesday, May 22nd. Daniel Bezalel Richardson will join as a guest and the event will be hosted by Landon A.R. Coleman. It runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Three poets, Matthew Tierney, Susan Atkinson and Spencer Gordon will be appearing at The Manx on Elgin on May 25th as part of Plan 99 reading series hosted by David O’Meara. Matthew will introduce Lossless. Susan will introduce her new volume entitled All things Small and Spencer will introduce A Horse at the Window. Time TBD.

Mike Stewart will introduce his new YA novel entitled Seeking Draven at Perfect Books on Tuesday, May 28th. The event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Mark Bourrie will bring his newest work to Perfect Books on Wednesday, May 29th. It is entitled Crosses in the Sky: Jean de Brebeuf and the Destruction of Huronia. Mark’s treatment of Canadian history is always engaging and provocative and this volume does just that. The event runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
